Dale County Auburn Club meets on the 15th!

Hopefully you were able to attend the meeting on the 15th featuring the "New" voice of the Auburn Tigers, Andy Burcham! He was great, as was the crowd. He is certainly aware of the task ahead of him and the shoes he will be filling. Thanks Andy for choosing the Dale County Auburn Club for your first meeting in the Wiregrass!!

A scholarship for Nick Hood

I am sorry to report that Mary Grace has died. The scholarship named for Nick is one of the requested donations if you would like to make one in her memory. The information you need is below. The other request by her family is to the Ozark- Dale County Humane Society.

  As most of you are aware Nick lost his life while on a geology dig with Auburn University. After a long struggle his family has decided to endow a scholarship at Auburn.
His Mother, Mary Grace Hood, has been a long time member of the DCAC and very supportive with her time and talents over the years. If you would like to make a tax deductible donation in her memory or Nick's memory, you may do so by sending a check made to:

Rod Bramblett, the VOICE of the Auburn Tigers!

Rod Bramblett came to Ozark to speak to the DCAC Monday night, August 6, 2018 at "The Warehouse".
The food was great, catered by Difilippo's, and the program was a great way to kick football season off for us all. If you missed it, you missed a good one. See you at the next meeting. War Eagle!!!

The Dale County Auburn Club will host a meeting on August 6th, 2018 at 6:00 p.m. featuring Rod Bramblett as the speaker. The meeting will be a held at "The Warehouse" on East Avenue in Ozark. A meal catered by Diflipppo's will be offered and the cost for the night is $20.00 per person with those 12 and under free. Please pre-buy your tickets from any board member.

 The side room is reserved and you can begin ordering from the menu at 5:30 p.m.and eat as we enjoy the game.  We will also have door prizes; two tickets for $5.00 with all proceeds going toward the scholarship programs.

DCAC AND ALABAMA CLUB WORKING TOGETHER - FRIDAY, NOVEMBER 18, 2016

  This will be to collect can food for people in the community.  More details will be given closer to the time.  We will need everyone that is available to help sign up for a time slot for the Auburn Table at each location and receive the can food items; along side the Bama Table.  

MONDAY, NOVEMBER 21, 2016: BEAT BAMA PEP RALLY AT 6:00 p.m.

  Pep rally will be at Perry Recreation, Ozark, Alabama at 6:00 p.m.

  We will having Chili Dogs for the meal.  The cost will be $5.00.

INDIANAPOLIS – Auburn softball standout Kasey Cooper was voted as the winner of the NCAA Elite 90 Fan Favorite contest, announced by the association on Thursday evening.

The all-american infielder dominated the top portion throughout the competition and collected 38 percent of the final votes in the last round. During the final round of voting, however, Cooper was down by as many as 1,000 votes, but stormed back to complete the comeback in the final hours and take the top spot.
Cooper ended the first round in second before the votes were reset. She then took the top spot in the semifinals and maintained that momentum in the final round to reign supreme.
In total, Cooper received 6,050 votes in the final round to receive the crown of the NCAA Elite 90 Fan Favorite.
In order to be eligible for the award, the student-athlete with the highest cumulative GPA participating at the finals site for each of the NCAA’s 90 championships was tabbed as a member of the Elite 90. From there, the 90 representatives were voted on by the public through a nine-day voting period that was divided into three rounds.
Cooper, a Mechanical Engineering major, maintained a perfect 4.0 GPA while putting together one of the best seasons ever in Auburn softball history. The Dothan, Ala. native set seven single-season program records and took ownership of four career records was a mainstay in the lineup at third base en route to being named the espnW Player of the Year.
She paced the nation’s top scoring offense with a .422 batting average, 19 triples, 21 home runs and 83 RBI. Cooper also top the team’s leaderboard with an .872 slugging percentage and an on-base clip of .581. For her efforts, she was tabbed as the SEC Player of the Year and Scholar-Athlete of the Year – the first ever to do both.
Cooper also received recognition for her outstanding performance in the classroom as she was selected as a CoSIDA Academic All-American.
She becomes the first winner of the NCAA Elite 90 Fan Favorite in program history.

Service at Auburn’s Bailey Small Animal Hospital earns top rating

The Emergency and Critical Care Service in the Wilford and Kate Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital at the Auburn University College of Veterinary Medicine has become the first service in Alabama to earn a Level I rating by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society.

Level I is the highest rating awarded to a veterinary emergency and critical care facility by the Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society, which promotes the advancement of knowledge and high standards of practice in veterinary emergency medicine and critical patient care. The certification is for two years.

"It's an honor to receive this certification, and to be acknowledged at this level of performance," said Dr. Lenore Bacek, an assistant clinical professor and head of the Emergency and Critical Care Service. "It also shows the level of hard work and dedication that our faculty, technicians and administrators give to make our service successful."

The Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care Society has three levels of certification based on factors including hours of operation, facilities and equipment available to treat patients, workflow, veterinarians available for treatment and consultations, and the level of education and training that veterinarians have.

The Emergency and Critical Care Service is one of 13 specialized services in the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital, a referral and primary care veterinary facility. It has two board-certified Diplomates, Bacek and Dr. Kendon Kuo; four residents; six interns; 24 veterinary technicians, four of whom are board-certified in emergency critical care; and fourth-year veterinary students in a clinical rotation.

The award announcement will be placed in the Journal of Veterinary Emergency and Critical Care, and the Bailey Hospital will be added to the directory of the VECCS' website, which clients can search to find facilities that are certified and at what level.
